Housing
The proposal’s central aim is the seamless integration of interior and exterior spaces. To achieve this, the façade was cleared of all obstructions, allowing uninterrupted views of the terrace from every room. This continuity is further reinforced by large-format porcelain flooring, carefully matched in tone to the exterior tile.
A strategically positioned volume —containing parts of the kitchen and bathroom— encourages circulation around it and acts as a spatial filter. This eliminates the need for partitions and creates an open, continuous visual flow.
High-value existing elements were restored and integrated into the design, including handcrafted globe sconces, a marble plaque inscribed with Funny flat —from which the apartment takes its name— and a Capilla fireplace designed by J.A. Coderch in 1952. This iconic piece is highlighted by a built-in sofa, offering a subtle nod to Coderch’s architectural language.
