This project is a Specialized Day Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Tàrrega, located south of the town in direct contact with the agricultural landscape, where it acts as a public landmark for the region. Promoted by the Alzheimer’s Family Association together with local institutions, it understands architecture as a collective and social tool, providing dignified and accessible spaces for a vulnerable population.
The building is organized through a clear cross-shaped geometry around a central courtyard, improving orientation and minimizing disorientation for users with cognitive impairment. Each wing accommodates specific functions and connects to protected patios and gardens, fostering natural light, ventilation, and contact with nature as part of the therapeutic environment.
A prefabricated dry construction system enables open, flexible spaces while optimizing resources and ensuring durability. Exposed concrete, wood, and light tones create calm and legible interiors. Designed as a nearly zero-energy building, it combines passive strategies with renewable systems such as aerothermal and photovoltaic energy.
More than a facility, the center is conceived as a place of care, dignity, and social commitment.
